Way back in 2011 I decided to make a bedhead. My house at the time had an abundance of timber and an upholstered bedhead softened and lightened the room. It was made to fit this bed and this room, sitting just under the stained glass window, queen sized with side panels to sit behind the timber bedside tables.
It always surprises me when tv shows talk about how easy and inexpensive it is to make a headboard. Good foam, wadding, upholstery grade custom made buttons all cost and contribute to the final appearance. Learning to diamond tuft from a professional craftsperson is high on my list!
The next incarnation of this room saw a gorgeous Ralph Lauren wallpaper, new mirrored bedside tables and a dresser (out of view) a new king size bed, and Roman blinds I painstakingly made by hand from Indian silk.
It’s fair to say I’m a convert to the upholstered bedhead and now that I’m in a new house it might be time to look around for a king size bedhead. A bit taller, a few more buttons, more tufting…..
